Recommended Piano Courses

I spent a month going through Robin Hall’s Pianoforall course for 30 days, which you can see my progress in this video here:

Pianoforall Review After One Month

Robin Hall has an extremely comprehensive course. In 30 days I didn’t even begin the scratch the surface of all the content that’s in here. What I found to be particularly satisfying was the progress I made in such a short period of time.

I was so excited that finally I could learn piano chords and create music! Traditional piano playing is wonderful but it feels like you have to practice for years before you can actually play songs you enjoy listening to.

Robin goes into detail about different rhythms and styles of chord playing which I can’t wait to get back into when I refocus on the piano!

What’s In The Course

One reason why Robin’s course is phenomenal is that it is designed with the absolute beginner in mind but picks up quickly so that it will keep your interest.

Unlike so many piano books where you feel like you’re a beginner for months, you’ll start playing advanced rhythms fairly quickly.

The key difference is in Robin’s method. Rather than focusing on reading sheet music, Robin focuses on learning chords. What’s important to know is if your goal is to learn to play songs note for note, this course is not for you!

If you are interested in learning to play the chords in a song song and even be able to play out the melodies, then this course has all the tools you need to get started playing.

I wish that these were my piano lessons when I was a kid, because I think I would have learned WAY more musically than I did trying to learn to play songs note for note.

These skills of playing chords elevates your music knowledge in all ways–you can use these skills in any other melodic instrument you play or in composition if that’s what you want to do.

Robin does a great job of starting simple with simple chords and then builds slowly with more complex rhythms and more complex chords. Eventually you’ll be able to look at any chord chart and be able to play the song. (You can’t say that for traditional sheet music! Even if you’ve been playing for 5 years.)

In summary, if you are wanting to play piano for the sake of enjoying it and enjoying music, I would 100% recommend this course to you.
